West Deptford NJ Crash kills Woman

Tragedy struck in West Deptford on Thursday night when a collision between two vehicles on Interstate 295 resulted in the loss of a passenger’s life and injuries to several others, according to the New Jersey State Police.

The incident unfolded shortly before 7 p.m. as a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle were traveling north on the interstate near milepost 19.8. Police reported that the passenger vehicle collided with the rear of the pickup, causing the pickup to swerve off the road, crash into a guardrail, and overturn.

Among those involved, Cassandra Ashmeade, 38, from Philadelphia, tragically lost her life after being ejected from the pickup during the collision. The pickup’s driver, a 44-year-old woman also from Philadelphia, sustained serious injuries, while two passengers in the other vehicle suffered minor injuries. All individuals were promptly transported to a nearby hospital for medical attention.

Reports indicate that a pickup truck and a passenger vehicle were traveling northbound on the highway just before 7:00 p.m. near milepost 19.8 when tragedy struck. The passenger vehicle collided with the rear of the pickup, causing it to careen off the roadway, collide with a guardrail, and overturn. Regrettably, Cassandra Ashmeade, 38, of Philadelphia, was fatally ejected from the vehicle during the crash.
